One of the famous card game among Indians is rummy. In the game there are two decks of cards. The set contains two jokers. The key to play and win the game of rummy is that the player must know about the picking up and discarding of cards. Both the discarding and the picking up takes place from the two piles available. Among the both the first deck is the closed one whereas the other being the open deck set. The concept behind closed deck is such that the player when a player picks a card from the closed deck then he cannot see the card that is picked. The open deck as suggested by the name simply means that it is that set which is already discarded by the players. In the game of rummy the cards given to the players must be in perfect sequence.
In the whole suit the cards are usually arranged in low to high order. If you don’t know the order then mark from now that the suit starts from Ace followed by 2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9 then 10. After ten you must keep jack followed by the queen and then the king. Apart from the numerical ones available rest these have 10 points respectively. If we talk about value of the rest in the suit then its obvious that the value is same as the face value. For instance in simple language one can say that the number 2 cards will have 2 points and similarly the rest goes like this.
The main objectives to play Rummy starts with arranging the total number of 13 cards in perfect sequence. If you simply want to win the game then all you need to do while playing rummy is to just make 2 minimum sequence from the cards allotted. Here while making two sequences the player needs to remember that among the two one should have pure sequence. The other can be any set. So pure sequence is needed to make a valid and authentic declaration in the game of rummy. So, one must remember this rule of thumb if they want to make them win.
How to the Form Sequences in the game of rummy?
Before directly answering the question we must understand what a sequence is? To play Rummy understanding about sequence and sets is mandatory. In lay man terms it is just a group of cards of the same suit. In order to play Rummy we must know about the types of sequences. If we categorize the types of sequences then they are majorly two types.
The first one is the pure sequence and the another being the unpure set pf sequence. Once you are done with the distribution of cards the first thing that must be done by the player to make a good win is to identify the pure sequence. Thus, the player must have one set of pure sequence in hand.
What do you mean by a pure sequence in rummy?
The Pure Sequence is said as the combination of cards of the same suit. These must be placed in consecutive order which is one thing we must remember. In this there is another rule that comes with it and that is while forming the pure sequence the wild cards cannot be included. For example a example of pure sequence will include the digit cards of 5,6,7 with same shape be it heart or ‘laal dil’what we Indians call it in the game of rummy. You can observe from the pure sequence that no wild cards are included in this pure sequence that is used to elaborate.
Now that we have understood about what a pure sequence is we must also know what is an impure sequence?
In the game of rummy an Impure Sequence is that defined set of cards in the number of three or more number of cards of the same suit. Here one can include one or even more than one joker. If we explain about the impure sequence with one example then the following will be most appropriate.
6,7,King,9 set of cards. Here the king will have a different symbol of card in the given set of cards.
How to Form Sets in the game of rummy?
As already mentioned a set is a group of more than three cards or more of the same value. These must be of different suits. But in case if you are forming sets the cards must include a wild one. Also, some other rules that is included is that when a player decides to leave the game in between it is termed as a drop. Its a personal decision when the player thinks of withdrawing all of the sudden in between a game of rummy. Here, the points also comes up with the drop and that is 20 points is set for the first drop. Similarly for the middle drop and last drop the points considered are 40 and 80 respectively.
Some other strange rules to play Rummy are as enlisted one by one. In the game of pool rummy if the player drops the pool in 101 then score remains or is considered to be 20.
